Giant Mug for Milk and Sugar
Gentle art of tea and chat
Feb 18 2009 Liverpool Echo Original Article
LIVERPOOL people are being urged to get creative as well as chatting over a cuppa at a new arts and meeting venue opening in the city.
Artist Sophie Green started off the artwork on a 4ft mug in the Atrium yesterday before handing the paintbrush over to the public to continue the design.
The artwork is part of the launch of milkandsugar, a new arts venue in the Tea Factory in Seel Street.
Guests at the opening event will be given blank mugs and invited to add their own designs.
People will have their picture taken which will be displayed next to their design as part of a temporary exhibition on show for several weeks after the launch.
The venue is a joint initiative between RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) Northwest and Places Matter! and the whole thing is designed to get people’s creative juices flowing.
