Taking it to the streets!
“Sophie Green is an imaginative and talented artist who is a dream to work with. Professional and approachable (she's actually really funny too!) she makes life easy for a busy arts management bod like me, by listening to the brief, taking on feedback and getting the job done to an excellent standard. We recently asked her to turn something around with a really tight deadline and Sophie rose to the challenge. What a star!”

Citywide billboard campaign
In the Summer of 2021 Sophie was commissioned by Homotopia and LCR Pride Foundation to create a series of images inspired by slogans and placards at recent protests against homophobic attacks in Liverpool.
The aim of the campaign was to bring visibility and empowerment to the LGBTQ communities and its Allies.
The messaging was projected across Liverpool on the 50+ billboards throughout July and August and had support from Liverpool City Council, Open Culture, Liverpool One and Open Media.
The Public’s Reaction
“I've been to town 3 times in the past 2 weeks and I definitely seen them! As a bi guy It's so nice to see the support from the council and everyone else involved.”
“We visited Liverpool last weekend for the first time and we LOVED these boards, we noticed them right away!! And the fact there we so many of them! Some cities have crap LGBT vibe but Liverpool’s was great and we felt so safe and welcome, and your art played a massive role in that!!”
“I've been seeing these all over the place and loving it, especially after all the homophobic attacks that went on. Liverpool in general has been so good with not just supporting pride during pride month recently.”
“Ah these are cool! The art style is boss!”
“Liverpool is one of the best cities. The Scousers have adopted me here and I am always grateful as a gay immigrant. Congratulations on the artwork. I have seen it in the city centre.”
“I fucking love this so much!! I'm so happy to see more and more on public display hitting this issue as succinctly as this.”
“Was just in Liverpool for the first time last week and saw one of these near the Nandos haha! Was welcoming to see and love the art!”
“Scousers don’t fuck about.”
“I'm both so proud of you and grateful to you for your creativity, passion, and strength. The art is beautiful but so is the artist. You deserve to be proud of this.”
“As a fellow Liverpudlian this makes me SO HAPPY 🥰🥰 I’ll make sure to look out for it next time I go to town 😁❤️”
“Great visual and sentiment. Businesses that rainbow their logo for a month but give money to anti-LGBTQ politicians are not our allies.”
“My partner and I were walking past the other day and he got super excited, saying : “that’s Sophie’s art, she’s an artist like me, and best of all she’s just like me too!”
